Week 4 assignment COLOR!

The first 3 photos are taken with the complementary color theme.  I actually found this to be the most challenging, finding colors that were exactly opposite on the color wheel was more difficult than I thought.  Of course, I used everything from my daughter's items.  The first photo is obviously ski equipment.  the orange hue in the goggles is a direct opposite of the blue/green boots, and periwinkle helmet.  The second photo is my oldest daughter's custom Chuck Taylors.  The pink and green are the opposite hues.  The last photo is a small beach ball, and the orange and blue are the opposite hues here.

Many more photos I tried to closely look at were of the Analogous kind.  I did not choose to take these, as I thought that many of them just had too many colors.

The color theme that I anticipated being the hardest to capture, was actually the easiest!  Monochromatic.  I really didn't know where to even begin looking at a them, that had the same hue of color.  Then, sitting on my couch, BINGO!  There was my cat Callie!  She certainly blends in with the couch.  Then with another light-bulb, the dog just got a new brown dog bed!  I do love my animals!

  1. I really like the picture of your dog on the couch. The blend of browns makes for an excellent monochromtic shot! Great job. Does he have blue nails?

  3. The monochrome shots are great! Did the furniture come with the dog or the dog with the furniture? she probably never moved during nail painting. The cat looks more like the owner of the couch.

  4. Great job with all of your photos laurie. Your colors were all great and the last two blended together very well. I had the same problem as you, finding colors that were opposite.

  5. Nice job Laurie! The beach ball is a great idea for colors! (I'm hoping for beach weather now)!! I like the monchromatic color schemes you decided to capture. Nice how the colors complement each other, yet blend. Even your cat had great coloring for this week's assignment.

  7. I love the monochromatic color scheme photos the best! They were all very good, but I'm an animal lover so thats what swayed me! You did such a great job with them! Its amazing how the cat blends in with the couch and I'm sure what is in the background of that adorable dog, but its great!

  8. Very cool ski equipment. I love the way it matches. Also very cool blue nails on your dog. Was that just for the pic or is that frequent for your dog?

  9. Very creative use of assorted household items Laurie! I am always trying to do this myself and get mixed results, good to see you are doing well with it.

  10. The monochromatic shots are stunning. The lighting is subdued, the composition is lovely: s-curve, diagonals, rule of thirds.
