The first photo is of Isabelle. She is a 4 year-old Hatian girl who is beautiful! She was wearing a bright colored shirt, and holding a flower to match. Her beading in her hair added to the color of this photo. What I did in photoshop, was crop the photo to take some extra background noise away. I think used an artistic enhancement of a brush stroke, to make it seem as though this photo is a painting. I think I like the artistic flare that it added.
The second photo is of my daughter during a dance competition 2 years ago. I cropped this to minimize the huge stage, and optimise her as the center. This photo was originally in color. I used the reverse black and white option, then utilized the smart brush tool to add her back in color. I think this helps her to stand out in the picture, while not adding too much color.
Laurie, I just got an ah-ha moment for this week's assignment (week 7), from reading your blog, I wanted to add color to a B7W photo and ended up doing a lot more work than I needed to if I had read your blog post about the smart brush tool. So thank you!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks as if only your original photos are up? If I am wrong please tell me, but that is what I see.

I love the second picture. Good choice to crop out the rest of the stage and have only her in color. It emphasizes your daughter's pose beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Beth, the solid black background really makes her stick in the spotlight. I like the brush stroke of the first photo too it looks nice with all of the colors.
ReplyDeleteLaurie you did a great job with these. I like what you did with both of them, but I love what you did with your daughters picture. It really made her stand out in the picture, and it turned out beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, Laurie. Your daughter is an amazing dancer! I think the color manipulation in the photo definitely emphasized that. Also, the picutre of Isabelle is bright and beautiful and I like the paint filter.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie Sounds like you did a great job and looks it as well! I just wish we had the before and after picture to compare and contrast with! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I love the colors in the photo with the little girl. It is neat how you chose to make the picture like a painting, and it really does! And the picture of your daughter is stunning, I wish I could do that!
ReplyDeleteWow...that is a neat option to change the coloring to black and white and then have your daughter in color. I want to try that feature in some of my photos...makes the object/individual jump out of the page. Very nice work Laurie!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth photos are lovely. I hope you'll give the move tool a chance in future weeks as it can be a real fun thing to play with.
