Final Project revised: A view of Haiti in Photographs

This is my revised final project.  This is a view of Haiti in photographs.  This was an amazing experience spending a week working in Haiti this past January with both of my sisters.  A humbling experience that made me realize how much we have in this country, and how much we continue to misuse what we have.  Haitians have nothing, and are proud of what they do have and keep it very clean and neat.

Haitians want to work, but there is no work to be had.  They are also very appreciative for what others do for them, but never expect it.  I will continue to pray for Haiti and their government, that people will now be able to see the beauty Haiti has to offer.

  1. LOVE the revisions! This really is an excellent slideshow, Laurie. I hope you can show it at your church or some other event to explain your experience. I love the fly-in titles for the manipulations, those really help us understand how you manipulated the photos and you can probably edit them out if you wanted to use this in the future?

  2. It is definitley an excellent slideshow!I love the portraits of the beautiful children. You did a very nice job with these photos. It's very interesting to see the lives they live and how you helped them. Makes me want to take a trip and do the same :o) I like your idea of putting what you used to manipulate each photo within the slides, it helps the eye ease on what you did and still focus on the story. Great slideshow.

  3. This was just the beginning of my slideshow experience with my Haiti photos. I made a complete 25 minute slideshow with many more photos and titles! I utilized all of these photos as well. Took me many hours, but I am so happy with it!

  5. What an awesome experience! I'll never forget the time I spent in New Orleans. Seeing that kind of devastation impacts a person greatly. I really like the portraits of David and Meonide. You can see their vivacity! Meonide reminds me of an old student.

  8. Hi laurie, Excellant slideshow! I could tell it was done with love, dedication and patience. Through photographs, short sentances and music you surely showed me a different perspective on Haitian life which completely discredits the violence the hatian people are typically portrayed to have in video games and in movies as well. Great Job!
