Final Project - A View of Haiti

Here is my video of my photo story.  I added 30 images, because it was very hard for me to narrow my 285 images down to only 10!  Many photos in this story are of the pre-school where I worked for the week.  I did physicals on all 30 children, and we did home assessments to see where many of them lived.  Most of the children live in a cinder block 1-room home without running water, or in tents with many other family members.

I had a lot of fun manipulating my photos, and used a lot of the quick select tool and clone stamp removing cinder blocks, power lines, car mirrors, and furniture out of pictures.  I cropped most of them, and added a lot of text as well.  I used artistic filters in 3 of the photos, and fixed a few with lighting, shadows, and saturation.

This was such a humbling experience, and I am truly blessed to realize how much we really have in this country.

I hope you enjoy!

  1. Laurie, what an amazing story that you have to share with all of us here in the states. We do take so much for granted every day and above all forget how blessed we are as a nation. I liked your layout and presentation of your storybook. I liked the water color photo of the little girl and also the one with the sparkles you added to her face. The coloring in your photos was very vivid. A lot of portrait photos which we just worked on last week - how fitting. Nice work....what program did you use to create your slideshow? How amazing it must have been to share this experience with your sisters - now those are Kodak Moments!! Nicely done.

  2. I really like how you used text to show what you did and what the pictures were during this slideshow. I still am unable to pin point where you used manipulations in some of your photo's which means you definitely have mastered the lessons of this course. Great job!
