This week has been a little difficult for me. My computer is having major issues, and I am away at a dance competition for 4 days. So, it is taking me MUCH longer time than I have to spend on it of course.
I really did like getting to know how to use these tools, and I think I am OK with how they came out.
First, I am showing you a area of rubble in Haiti. This is the before picture.
I decided I wanted to add a more pleasing view. I used the clone stamp to add more greenery to this photo. There is not a lot that is green in Haiti.
Next is the watermark project. First, the before pic:
Next, I added the word "Dancer" by selecting the text tool, changing the font to 72 pts, making it bold, and decreased the opacity. I was a little frustrated with this, as I really wanted to manipulate where the wording was, and also wanted to make it bigger than the maximum 72 pts allowed. I am sure there is a way to do this, but I could not figure it out.
For the next project, I had a bit more fun playing around with. It took a while to achieve the look I wanted, but this is a tool I will be using in the future!
First, the before pic:
Now for the colored version. I selected the natural brush, and color hue was a periwinkle color. I wanted to color just the pink leaves of the poinsettia. I painted the blossoms, and had to use the eraser tool when I accidentally went outside the lines. Then I used the paint bucket tool to fill in all the white background color.
Pretty cool!
Nice work Laurie....I know the feeling with computer issues...no fun..I feel your pain! You did a great job with these tools. I like how you added the greenery to the photo nice to be able to manipulate things this way! And so much fun! Your dancer photo is amazing how beautiful and I like how you painted the background on the poinsettia plant photo. Really makes the plant stand out in the picture. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHave you found your computer to be a bit slower from the downloads of this class? I've been having issues with mine since I downloaded everything, but I have a Dell so, well enough said haha.
ReplyDeleteNic job with your photos. The bushes blend well in the picture of Haiti, nicely done. The photo of the pointsettia looks pretty neat with the background. I like your choice of colors in this photo. :)
Laurie,
ReplyDeleteI too was very frustrated with the font. I couldnt figure out how to increase the font size either. It did however get bigger when I altered it but thats only because I stretched in with the bend option. I really like your painted picture. The colors you chose really complimented one another. Great Job!
Are you using PS or GIMP? In Photoshop you can go beyond the 72 size font by typing in the number you want. It doesn't look like that's an option but it is, if it isn't on your version there is often an "other" option in the line of font sizes. Clicking on that will allow you to type in your own font size. To move text you need to select the "move" tool when you are in the text option. I'll post a little screen cast of this in the How To link for class. ReplyDeletein Photoshop if you click on the font size box and spin your mouse or use the up/down arrows on your keypad wheel you can get to any size font. Nice job on flower painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the font advice! I am using Photoshop, and will look into this asap!
ReplyDeleteYes, my computer has gotten much slower since taking this class. i thought it was because of adding my new camera, lots more photos, and photoshop all at once... My husband just got a new computer, so I am hoping to add all the photos and photoshop to his for my photo manipulations, and then clean this one out to start over...
Laurie, I like how much more your photo looked filled in, in the first one. The second one I actually like that you added simple text to this photo because it was so beautiful to begin with, and it was great color changes on the last one. I really like what you did with all of them.
